Do you need an accountant?

If you run a business, big or small, then the answer is likely to be "yes".

A good accountant is arguably the most valuable adviser to have when running a business. Bearing in mind that it is a legal requirement for all businesses to keep proper records and meet their tax obligations, if your accounts are in order and you are up-to-date with payments, you are more able to concentrate your efforts on building your business and becoming ever more successful.

Not yet got your business off the ground?  A good accountant can provide invaluable help in getting you started.

Of course, individuals often need tax advice and assistance too.

Why choose a Chartered Accountant?

Anyone can call themselves an ‘accountant’.  There is no legal requirement for any particular training or experience.

A 'chartered accountant', on the other hand, must undertake at least three years training with an organisation authorised by one of the three Chartered Institutes in the UK.

Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales must pass tough examinations embracing financial management, auditing, business strategy, taxation and IT, before becoming entitled to use the letters ACA or, after 10 years, FCA.

Chartered Accountants are required to maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and must comply with the Institute’s scheme of Continuing Professional Development, to ensure that their knowledge and skills are kept up to date.

Advice from a chartered accountant can prove inestimable.
